Almanac is a knowledge graph of Canada's critical-minerals sector: entities (companies, people, governments, deposits, claims) connected by relationships (owns, directs, holds-claim, pays, lobbies), where every edge carries its public source and the dates it was valid. The website is a view onto that graph. These principles bind every pipeline and every page.
Uniform scrutiny, no designations
The same queries run on everyone: a junior miner, a state-owned enterprise's ownership chain, a former official on a board. We never maintain a list of “threats.” We show the evidence and let the analyst draw the conclusion.
Provenance on every claim
Every node and edge links to a primary government source wherever one is available; secondary sources are labelled as such, and retrieval dates are shown as they are added. A fact with no source does not ship. This is the whole credibility story.
Open, public, and licensed data only
No controlled goods, no classified inputs, and no scraping of sources that prohibit it. Indigenous data is limited to official settled boundaries, clearly labelled.
Fact ≠ assessment
AI-generated analysis (assessments, briefings, dossiers) is grounded only in the sourced graph, cites the records it rests on, and renders visibly distinct from sourced fact. It is analysis, never a designation.
